As I was researching another topic I found this post from Intel describing modular concepts for game and virtual reality assets. Even though familiar with this concept to a certain degree from working in the VFX industry it describes very well some of the main challenges when creating content for real-time rendering.

The Locomotion Vault presents the result of a project by the Microsoft Research Lab. It’s a database of over 100 locomotion techniques for Virtual Reality that illustrates similarities and differences between the different approaches.
A fellow teammate at Magnopus pointed me to the Game UI Database. It collects screenshots from many games. That makes it an amazing reference for every game developer or game designer.
